The Chronicals is my story about 'Youkai' (only slightly based on me in character). He is a boy born different the ordinary humans making him a bit of an outcast, but he doesn't understand why. He has an older brother and sister, but his father left the day he was named.
Though the main character is Youkai, there are a list of main characters, and even more important figures, as the story is really about the world these characters live in, and how it revolves strangly around a particular group of five.
This story is set somewhere near the 21st Century. A scientist 'Dr.Frienly' had been working on a way to purify the world of its advanced levels of pollution and corruption. In order to fight rising sea levels, the world had in turn been converted into an almost desert-like wasteland across the world. After discovering a secret source of power, that could only be explained as magical, he realises that Earth cannot be saved, so instead uses this power to create a second planet, Gaia. He chooses only the finest and pure hearted of the remaining human race to take to this unatural but almost completely ideal world, and using his mystical sources and combining them with sacred arts of worldwide nations and civilisations, he builds a new society, that you soon discover has almost as much secrecy and deception as the old governments of earth, but on a different level. Years later society is built and humans are already beginning to show their darker sides.
The story starts when Youkai is transfered to a new school. His next door neighbour 'Krishen' quickly becomes a close friend, and he goes on to meet others that he makes strong ties with, James, Dwain and Maiya. Living in the shadow of his elder brother, a renowned warrior, and with a mysterious past that so few understand, Youkai has to deal with foe after foe, and eventually, even himself.

Having to fight offworld invasions, advanced beings from other dimensions, wild dragon-like creatures and currupt warriors of the new civilisation, Youkai developes into one of the most feared heroes of Gaia.
His unique qualities are mostly shown in his large black wings, formed solely from energy, he can call upon them at any time, and banish them just as easily, but there's other traits that make him unique.
